Comments:     First time to this area.  Drove the Fiesta Island Loop, stopping frequently to check the open waters and the shoreline.  I was on a time budget and did not search the interior sandy dune and grass lands.  So i’m sure there were more birds there to be seen.  u

Brant  175     One large, but loose, flock of about 125 birds was on the north side of the island.  The rest were scattered in small groups and singlets.

Lesser Scaup  125     I did not scan these very hard so there may have been  a Greater in there some where.  But those that i did scrutinize where all Lessers.

Western Grebe  250     There was a huge flock of mixed grebe hunting on the north side of the island by some land based channel marker of some sort.  I noted 2 Clark’s grebes clearly but there may have been a few more.  There was a large contingent of Horned Grebe as well and a number of Eared as well.

Heermann’s Gull  X     There was a large amount of gulls present throughout the island.  Easily over 500.  I took note of who was there but did not count them.  In terms of relative abundance the WEGU and the RBGU were about equal and in the majority.  The HEER and CAGU were also about equal and in the minority.
